Light Consulting started with a big leap and a bold belief that business could be done differently.

Our founder stepped away from the corporate world after 15+ years in finance, inspired by a vision to bring her gifts directly to the people who needed them most: small and mid-sized business owners. Since day one, the goal has been to provide clarity in the chaos and strategy with heart.

What started as a one-woman show has grown into a full team of financial consultants, fractional CFOs, and fractional accountants, each passionate about serving businesses in a smarter, more human way.

The Evolution of Light...
From a single spark to a growing team, each year at Light has been shaped by intentional growth, deepened expertise, and an unwavering commitment to walking alongside our clients with clarity, care, and purpose.
2019
Where It All Began
Light Consulting launched in 2019 with a clear purpose: to bring clarity, strategy, and steady leadership to growing businesses. What started as a solo operation quickly grew, with a second team member joining by year-end as demand began to pick up.
2020
Building the Foundation
With our third team member joining in 2020, we were focused on building internal systems and defining our core offerings across accounting, payroll, and financial strategy. By the end of the year, our small but mighty three-person team was laying the groundwork for something bigger.
2021
Growing the Team
As we grew to five employees by the end of 2021, we expanded our client base in construction, real estate, and professional services. This year brought more complexity, and with it, more opportunity to step in as strategic partners, not just service providers.
2022
Gaining Momentum
With eight team members by the close of 2022, we invested in refining our processes, tools, and culture. We leaned into collaboration, began expanding leadership coaching offerings, and focused on making our systems scalable as we looked toward future growth.
2023
Depth & Direction
By the end of 2023, our team had grown to 11. With a solid foundation in place, we focused on building depth, developing internal processes, mentoring newer team members, and expanding our industry expertise. Strategic planning took center stage as we helped more clients align their financial operations with long-term goals, while also refining our own direction as a company.
2024
Leading Light
With 13 team members and growing, we introduced a pod structure to better support our clients by industry, ensuring specialized, proactive service rooted in expertise. We clarified internal roles, improved workflows, and continued investing in a strong culture where leadership thrives at every level.
2025
The Light Expands
Now in 2025, Light is a team of 13. We’ve focused on leadership transitions, officially launched new service offerings like Interim Controller support, and leaned deeper into strategic planning for our clients. Our Detroit Lakes office opened, giving us a physical presence in lakes country. With fresh energy, strong talent, and big vision, we're excited for what's ahead.
